Path to honor
- Started his livelihood as a contract laborer in SPIC during its time of construction
- Continued his work at Tuticorin Thermal Power Station where he received the contract of removing the foreign materials from the coal transmitted through belt conveyors in 1983
- Under the name of Chandy & Co. Flagship Company the contract business was expanded to various thermal power stations in northern states of India. This contributed to the increase of the nation’s power generation by increasing PLF (Plant Load Factor from 26% to 65% and at present to 90%
- Chandy & Co. Engg. Contracts (Pvt.) Ltd., was started to undertake the contract in Thermal Power Stations sited at Thoothukudi, North Chennai and Ennore.
- Chandy Insulations (Pvt.) Ltd., was established to handle the contracts with Chennai Petroleum Corporation Ltd., (CPCL) and Thermal Power Stations at Tamil Nadu and all over India.
- Chandy Flo Iodized Salt (Pvt.) Ltd., was commenced to produce quality iodised salt in Thoothukudi and Chennai (North Chennai and Kelambakkam belts)
- Chandy power Consultants (Pvt.) Ltd., was established to provide consultancy services to Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd., (BHEL) Tiruchirapalli and has also erected hot well at Koodankulam Atomic Power Project, Tirunelveli District.
- In 2001, Pitchandi Poornamaalai Ammal Trust was founded to materialize his father’s dream of giving education to the economically weaker sections of the society.
- The Chairman under the guidance of renowned entrepreneurs and academicians instigated Chandy Matriculation School in 2001 followed by Chandy Industrial Training Institute in 2003, Chandy Polytechnic College in 2005 and Chandy College of Education in 2007.
- Focusing towards the field of education he gradually stretched out the bough of his group of institutions by establishing Chandy College of Engineering in 2009 to provide quality education at affordable cost.
- He organizes free eye camps for cataract operation and spectacles are offered to the needy.
- Apart from these he benevolently renders welfare measures and organizes medical camps for the benefit of the aged and destitute women, physically challenged persons and deserving public irrespective of caste, creed, race, community and religion.
- He has also honored with a number of awards for his altruistic social service.
